while out and about today, i saw a different town than the town i grew up in. the town i grew up in seemed to have pride. homeowners, kept their homes and yards tidy. there were more stores around the square. i counted 13 empty stores just around the square and broad street. i know it has been on going for several years but for some reason the blinders were off today. seems like the city doesnt care if the yards are as high as the roof, or so many cars you could hide in the yard and not be found and even homes and or buildings that need to be torn down. for years, all you could hear is keep your business in ozark. what does ozark have to make you want to keep business there? the high school is old. the students used to participate in the extra activities like band and football more than they do now. when i was going---the band seemed to stretch all across the field, now there are only about 50 participants. there are no businesses that spark interest. where does anyone work now? seems to me like the city council, the mayor, and all of the other influentual people like it the way it is. go out roy parker road---it is sick to see the empty buildings around and out where the industrial park is--van heusen, golden peanut, the buildings next to the health department. it is really sick. seems like the mayor of ozark needs to get with the mayor of enterprise and take some lessons on how to make a town grow. oh by the way...........there was a thread on here about the 1/2 mil tax money that was swept under the rug........is there anyone that will ever take the blame for that?? is the city of ozark going to allow this to just blow over? get your head out of the sand people.....if something doesnt happen to ozark in the next few years, it will look like a ghost town.....

I think it's pretty much a ghost town now, it has nothing to offer. I live 10 miles from Ozark and I visit the Club Sun and Wal Mart there on occasion. The Wal Mart sucks. IMHO They have the same items on three or four aisles just for fillers I guess??? I worked at Van Heusen for 17 years and at one time they had 3 buildings in ozark, now nothing.....It's pretty sad to see Oz like it is now. It use to be so much more 20 some odd years ago, now it's nothing.

Don't blame Ozark for Van Heusen's failings.
and I remember when there were nothing on 231 and now look at what's out there and what is being built.
I wouldn't say Ozark is a Ghost town

are you going to follow me around and be my resident "leg humper"?
And the person made statements jumbled into her post about ozark not being anything but a ghost town and compared it to 20 years ago.If you cannot see all the new business in Ozark in the last 20 years, you my want to dig your head out of your butt.

yes sweet crimson, i made statements that it will soon look like a ghost town and i will stick to my opinion. i am aware there are businesses that have come to ozark over the last 20 years and i am also aware, we need more now and not let it be 20 more years to make it happen or Ozark will be a ghost town. my whole message leans toward the people that run ozark need to look for more before it does diminish and no one wants to come to ozark at all. As far as Van Heusen goes, yes, I blame that company...any company that takes work from America and sends it to another country---takes money out of the pockets of the people in our town. As far as 231 goes, there may be a few more businesses out there but there are still many places that are empty. Empty places everywhere. We need more industry, more jobs, more incentives to make people come here, not just little strip malls where title loans companies are. Right now, we have 2 hotels going up with the other hotels (motels) that dont even have 4-5 cars in the parking lot on a given night. Get something to come into Ozark where we can pack these places.

The square has always been dead.20 years ago or now.
You do not like the little title places and small business on 231 but yet you want the square hopping?
Those are very small spaces.
As far as Little J,You just keep leg humping and you might get wet and that ain't going to be water that hits you on your head.

the message is still not being understood. the message is to get big businesses in ozark that will stimulate more jobs. that will increase the number of smaller businesses that will fill these vacant places with other things besides the title loan crap stuff. I want the whole town hopping, not just the square, not just 231. However the square is the heart of the town. as far as the sizes of the spaces around the square, they are just as big if not some bigger than the places elsewhere.
